Isn’t Talula the cutest name ever??! I’ve never heard of it, but am in love. Especially after meeting her. How could anyone resist all those rolls?
Talula’s mommy was my daughter’s teacher two years ago. So I’m so happy to help her out with some photos since she helped my Bella out with learning reading, writing, and arithmetic. Bella got to come with me on this shoot and was in HEAVEN. She occasionally will come on a family shoot to get the little ones laughing and looking, but this time was extra special since it was her teacher. We started at their house then popped down to east cliff to wrap at the beach where we saw, who else? Mr. Curley. He is the school principle at Westlake. He said, “Hello, teacher Megan” before giving Bella a hug and heading out for a surf. Small town feel here in Santa Cruz, yet so diverse. Love it.
Check Lula’s beautiful coloring with her light blue eyes and fair skin. So pretty Lula!

Ohhhh chunky monkey- look at those arm rolls. No wonder your mama is not back at work yet!
I love how she grabbed her mama’s hair.
Enjoy your new little one Miss Megan!
About a month ago, I turned the big 3-0! We partied it up at the Harbor Cafe on 7th and had a band come play for a few hours. Totally recommend the harbor cafe for intimate parties. It includes staff, full no host bar, clean up and food if you want or you can bring your own. Here are a few from the last minute theme my sister in-law put togeteher.. hula-tiki-pirate?!
Slow dance with the hubby.
Soccer moms.
Waterpolo teammates from college!
No party is complete without a cake fight…
Good Times xoxo
Companion Bakeshop moved into the vacant spot near Another Bike Shop off Mission. Starting from a simple commercial space that sold their fresh breads at farmers markets, Jeremy and his wife, Erin have now expanded to a shop serving fresh baked goods of all kinds and great coffee. They exclusively serve Lulu’s coffee. Yum! When I first popped in that morning, they had the fresh loaves of dough covered with towel and ready to go into the brick oven. That is what really made me want to go grab my camera. That and their drip coffee. I thought it would be fun to photograph some drip coffee. I love that a beach cruiser was parked out front when I arrived and I was able to get some sun flare shining on their sign. It so encapsulates the sunny Santa Cruz lifestyle. Check out the sweet write up in the Sentinel to learn more and go check out their beautiful fresh new space for yourself!
Oh, how I wish I could share their amazing video that their mega talented friend made for their up coming wedding days. Yep. Two weddings. One on the East Coast and one on the West- my first double header. Well besides my own. Yeah- we did the official one with just the parents present, then the huge shabang a year later. There will be no video though, as it is top secret. I got a peek though because I will be “working” while it plays. With their many years traveling from coast to coast to keep up a relationship, the two are planning a travel themed wedding. I’m very much looking forward to seeing all the details she’s oozing about come to life. In the meanwhile, here was her other vision for her engagement session… first a hike in Nisene Marks, then a trip to the beach for a coveted photo of them on boards in their clothes. Crazy I know. She had me at, “so our backs will be to you…” There is something so enchanting to me about two people in love looking away from the camera. It holds so much curiosity and unknowns.
After Nisene Marks… we headed over to the village. We did a little stroll around town, before hitting the water.
Lucky for these two, there was no swell. The surf was as flat as a lake. They were able to paddle out unscathed for this shot she wanted.
Thanks for the fun adventures guys! I’m looking forward to more with your bi-coastal weddings. xx ~J
Chris and Lisa met through the exclusive sister company of Match.com. He works for PBS making documentary series and she is a middle school teacher. The two are so so so much fun! I knew they were for me when they disclosed they love to take awkward prom style photos wherever they travel to and were hoping they could do a few for the engagement session. They are a fun loving couple and madly in love. They were so much fun to work with… did I already say that?! We went up to the property where they hammed it up for the camera with awkward young love poses and cheesy high school prom photo poses, in addition to some sweet. honest. in-love ones. I told Lisa, I’ve never laughed out loud by myself while editing photos, but when I got to the series of them on the tire swing I had such a big laugh and perma smile going. Not only did she get her foot stuck, but then Chris was being wild in the background like a four year old, while Lisa tried to look grumpy about it all for a staged photo, but in all reality, he was too funny for either of us to keep a straight face about it all. Ahhhhh…. so fun. Anyway, Here they are rocking cowboy boots and all.
These two have a long history of awkward love poses, with an emphasis on cheesy prom poses. Here is one from the day. So cheesy. So fun.
Mad air. Well done Chris!
The Chris show…. can you tell he works in the entertainment industry?
My dad recently moved into a new office and is big on his grandkids like all great, wonderful, amazing, playful Papa’s are. So I surprised him with a new little collage I’m going to be offering to clients. It is all custom colors, pictures, and wording. You can order it in any square size: 10×10, 12×12, 20×20. I ordered him a thin wrap, which should be surprising him on his doorstep today! You can turn it into a print, thin wrap, or canvas wrap.
It’s the sweet sixteen!
Here are a few of Dan and Reannen from their wedding at Seascape Resort on Sunday. I had so a blast working with these love birds! They were sooooo in love and sooooo charismatic and definetly NOT camera shy. See what I mean….
They went all out and ended up IN the Pacific Ocean by the end of it! Rockstars.
Just a couple funny ones to give you an idea of how much fun we had, I’ll get a real post of their beautiful wedding up soon!
