About a month ago, I turned the big 3-0!  We partied it up at the Harbor Cafe on 7th and had a band come play for a few hours. Totally recommend the harbor cafe for intimate parties.  It includes staff, full no host bar, clean up and food if you want or you can bring your own.  Here are a few from the last minute theme my sister in-law put togeteher.. hula-tiki-pirate?!

Slow dance with the hubby.

Soccer moms.

Waterpolo teammates from college!

No party is complete without a cake fight…

Good Times xoxo

Happy 30th Birthday Greta!

Most of my friends birthday parties seem to be late night affairs, but Greta arranged for us to relax poolside with drinks, magazines, and a gal to change our toe polish.  A relaxing change from the normal 30th birthdays!  After hanging poolside, we all had a formal Sunday dinner at the restaurant there, Dio Deka where her hubby is the chef.  YUM!  Unfortunately, I don’t fine dine enough cuz by the fourth course  I had no room for the main course.  I literally took one bite and asked for a box.    I thought all the burritos I eat would have been good training, but no.

Still to come… two weddings and a maternity shoot.

Happy Birthday to Me…

Friday, May 28th, 2010

When Rod asked me what I want for my birthday yesterday and I couldn’t come up with an answer right away, I surprised myself.  I don’t know about you, but I usually always have wish list about 10 items long in my head of varying prices.  For some reason I drew a blank?!!

Just as we were about to get going for breakfast he walked in holding the box of his iphone he had just bought himself a couple weeks ago with his Christmas money from my parents.  Yeah- Christmas money… my man likes to save.  I had to pressure him into using his gift money for a gift!

I didn’t think I wanted one, but once he said,”I got you an iphone”  and my head finally proceed that the unwrapped gift he non-chalantely walk through our bedroom door with was for me…  then my head started to dream of all the helpful THINGS I could do with it.  I think I had done that thing where somehow you convince yourself you don’t want or need something and really begin to believe it.  I had believed it right up until he said I could have one. Then I realized I DID want one, in fact, I’ve always wanted one, but no one needs one.  No one needs these types of conversations:

I’m here! Where are you?

I’m at the bar.

Oh yeah, there you are.

Yeah, I see you. Come over.

See you in a sec.

If mobile phones hadn’t been invented, the previous conversations would never have taken place.  That beauty was from Dave o’neil’s book, “Everything Tastes Better Crumbed.”  More from him in the future.

End of June is when the oldies go on special with the new iphone release or so we all think. Unless Walmart still has any left at the $99 special price.  I can wait a month to give the business to a better party and save a $100.  I don’t think I’ll go for the latest and greatest… but maybe all the bells and whistles will be bigger and better than they are projecting?  I’m looking forward to getting organized with the THINGS application…. you guys should check it out if you have an iphone!
